AI in film, journalism and art

The yearly Round Tables at the Belgian Copyright Association today were chaired by Herman Croux and all dealt with AI.

Kevin Ingelbrecht of the Screenwiters Guild testified how in his industry AI is presently used, and which contractual arrangements can and should be put in place. Charlotte Michils of the Flemish Journalist Association dealt with initiatives of self-regulation, both on national and international level. Finally Olivier Grasser of the art center Contretype gave many insightful examples of the use of AI by artists, and what it means for the concept of originality.

These Round Tables were as always a great opportunity for lawyers to interact with and better understand what goes on in the real world – and in the artificial world.
