On 20 January 2023, the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers (IAEL) presented the panel “2022 As it Was” at Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS).
Eurosonic Noorderslag hosts an annual four-day showcase festival and music conferences covering all areas of the music industry across venues in Groningen (the Netherlands).
Peter Marx and Emilie Deturck (together with Joep Meddens and Janneke Popma of Höcker Advocaten, Amsterdam) reported on recent court cases relevant to the music industry, including the Martin Garrix vs. Spinnin’ Records lawsuit, the registration of the James Bond theme as a sound mark, look-a-likes and image right law, the plagiarism lawsuit involving Ed Sheeran, litigation with regard to the famous Rolling Stones trademark/logo, the impact of moral rights on posthumous releases of music, the Nirvana Nevermind baby law suit, etc.
