Belgium will this fall introduce a single permit that will replace the residence and work permit that until so far have both been necessary to employ non-EU nationals in Belgium. The Single Permit will have to be obtained for all non-EU Nationals that wish to work. The would-be employer will have to lodge a petition with the local regional government that must be accompanied with supporting documentation specific for that particular strand of employment. The single permit as a replacement for two documents and procedures will be prone to increase efficiency and reduce costs for the administration, the employer as well as the non-EU employee.
